Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Three belting live bands for under £10. Cheeky breakbeat-funk that packs o.t.t. electro breakdowns with snatches of kraut headspace. "

At our second time of trying, we are excited to bring French via London live techno act MADMADMAD to Bristol, playing at Crofters Rights with support from local talents Hippo and Haal.

MADMADMAD - Are a jazz trio filtered through analogue electronics to create a mad jam of 70s ray guns, disco sounds, krautrock, acid squelches underpinned by freeflowing funk sensibilities. Their latest album ‘More More More’, was recorded in their experimental warehouse lab, infused with the band’s alien live techno set, oozing dance bass lines, spiky guitars and fizzing drums, shaped by the mutant sounds of 70’s no-wave, post-punk and disco.

HIPPO - Another trio, this time straight out of bristol, propelling their future jazz vision buried in a nest of beefy electronics and bouncing rhythms. Saxophones, synthesizers and drums go in. Hippo comes out.

HAAL - HAAL - Echoing and building upon the crunchy, highly dynamic post-rock sounds of the late ’90s and early ’00s, HAAL is a project wherein the music and visuals are intended to be taken as one complete piece. Injecting a flair for motorik rhythms and hypnotic riffs with sudden explosions of noise and power, HAAL promises a commanding, immersive show in which the audience is quickly locked into the rules of the band’s world.

We will require proof of a negative Covid lateral flow test for entry to crofters, and if the show is unable to go ahead will offer tickets to a rearranged show, or refunds.
