Andrea Belfi
[Berlin via Milan]
(Room40, Häpna, Miasmah, Latency Recordings)
http://www.andreabelfi.com/listen/

Electro-acoustic percussionist, composer and experimental musician. Through the last twenty years he has developed a unique style of drumming, influenced by his many experiences with experimental and electronic music, rock, improv. His hypnotic rhythms and textures create immersive soundscapes for the listener to float in.

Belfi’s interest in contemporary art led him to exhibit sound-art installations throughout Europe and U.S. He has released five solo albums and more than fifty collaborative records, with the likes of Mike Watt, Carla Bozulich, David Grubbs, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Nils Frahm, Greg Haines, Circuit des Yeux, Andrea Parkins, Werner Dafeldecker, Erik Skodvin, Stefano Pilia, Aidan Baker, Lori Goldston, BjNilsen, Machinefabriek, Giuseppe Ielasi.

"Elements of Italian minimalism, abstract percussion, modular synthesis and, of course, contemporary electro-acoustic aesthetics, construct an aural image of insentient objects, in which through repetitive rhythm and resolute harmony they slowly come to life."

"Layers of drums and percussions intertwine with synth waves making the portrait come to life, detail after detail, until a complex figure emerges from the white canvas. The constant, unsteady sounds, wavering noise, swirling cymbals, and distant feedback gently pull the listener into the picture, letting them enjoy every detail of this beautifully staged compositions."

Valentina Magaletti
[London via Bari]
(Soundway Records, Blackest Ever Black, Negative DAYS, Hands In The Dark Records)

Italian percussionist and multi-instrumentalist who you should recognise by now. She currently plays in Tomaga, Raime, Vanishing Twin and The Oscillation, though has previously performed for the likes of Shit and Shine, Gum Takes Tooth, Hey Colossus, Moin etc. She is also part of a brand new project called 'UUUU', with Graham Lewis & Matthew Simms (Wire) alongside Thighpaulsandra (Coil).

This will be a very rare chance to catch The Mag performing solo.

"With Jaki gone, It's gotta be Valentina as the greatest Krautrock / Experimental type drummer around. No better." - Baba Yaga's Hut

Black Spring
[Milton Keynes]
(Monocreo, Structured Disasters)

Opening up are fresh new trio from MK (of all places). They've so far put out a few tapes, including a split with The Engineer and a collaboration with Miles Cooper Seaton (Akron/Family).
They've played shows alongside Neil Campbell, Laura Cannell, Shit & Shine and Hey Colossus, as well as hitting up the Old England with Saltings last year.

"Though a trio, Black Spring utilise a nutty blend of guitar, voices, processed tapes, percussion, synthesizers, and homemade instruments in making their sprawling music, always taking their sweet time." - The Quietus

"Imagine one of those classic stoner rock crews – Sleep, perhaps, or Om – hunkering down in the Black Ark to cut some sides for Hyperdub with an Apollo-era Eno casting a quizzical eye over proceedings."
