held at D–UNIT
on Friday 29th October. The event starts at 18:00.
D-UNIT has been hosting young artist Emily Rose Millhouse in a micro-residency this week. The resulting exhibition 'Illogically Dissociated' will take the form of a sculptural installation with soundscape, and will explore Millhouse's interest in the physical embodiment of the feelings created by the lack of control within the mind.
For Millhouse, form is metaphor for loss of control. Form is also considered during the making process, as she is focused on how the visual physicality can affect the viewer. This is reflected through consistent use of free-forming, fluid materials. These morph into their own forms uncontrollably, curated by contact with the atmosphere. By way of directing the material ambiguously, metamorphic forms are produced.
Dubsta is a beatboxer who works with abstraction and produces soundscapes through his voice.
Brother G is a poet who incorporates beatboxing into his spoken word.
Doors open for exhibition preview at 6pm. Performances at 7.30pm.
D-UNIT is a new space in Bristol and is focusing its initial programme on the work of young artists and graduates, many of whom were unable to show their work at their degree shows in 2020.
