MAYK presents: It doesn’t have to last forever – public art programming in a changing city

As Bristol enters a period of significant regeneration, how can we collectively reimagine what the provision of public art looks like in the future? How can artists playfully disrupt and create thrilling new place-based work that is non-permanent and has deeper, more rich community engagement. This lively discussion will offer some radical new ideas around how art in the public realm can help us understand how our city is changing, using MAYK’s current residency project Confluence as a jumping off point.

Featuring contributions from Seth Honnor (Artistic Director of Kaleider), Tanuja Amarasuriya (director and dramaturg working across theatre, film, audio and XR), Experience Designer, Social Games Practitioner Imwen Eke, Bristol City Council Public Art Officer Georgina Bolton and Senior Arts Development Officer Jo Plimmer.

Free to attend, but you’ll need to book your space in advance.

This talk is part of Mayfest: Bristol's international festival of contemporary theatre and live performance, curated and produced by MAYK. Check out the full programme at

Part of MAYK’s ongoing residency project Confluence, which brings together MAYK’s various ways of working – presenting, producing and residency – into a programme of work that is unfolding over the next year exploring how the centre of Bristol is changing. Confluence is a project by MAYK, commissioned by Ginkgo Projects for The Glassworks with the support of Grainger Plc
