An event on Tuesday 20th October. The event starts at 19:00.
Join us at EBB for an evening of experimental Canadian poetry with poets Valerie LeBlanc & Daniel H. Dugas, fresh from this year's Bristol Poetry Film Festival, and Sarah Tremlett. Valerie and Daniel will also be discussing their role as publishers of innovative literature through Basic Bruegel Editions.
Pluridisciplinary artist and writer, Valerie LeBlanc was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She has worked and presented throughout Canada and internationally. LeBlanc’s first video: HOMECOMING was collected and screened by the National Gallery of Canada. She is the creator of the MPB (MediaPackBoard), a portable screening / performance device.
Poet, video poet and musician, Daniel H. Dugas has participated in numerous exhibitions and completed several residencies in Canada and abroad. In 2021, he received the New Brunswick Lieutenant Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts.
Sarah Tremlett is an award-winning poetry filmmaker, poet, theorist, curator, and co-director of Liberated Words. She co-founded Poem Film Editions and authored The Poetics of Poetry Film (2021), a landmark study exploring the relationship between moving images, language, aesthetics, and philosophy, and the evolving practice of poetry film. Her latest publication *Horse-Woman* is a poetic memoir with early paintings. It centres on living in a London bedsit whilst modelling and recording her volatile, traumatic life, and is part of the Basic Bruegel Chapbook series.
