Plant Power - Film + Talk
Wednesday 24 April, 6pm
Easton Community Centre
Screening of Bristol-based film Plant Power and the launch of our Community Climate Action Leadership programme.
Plant Power is a remarkable and uplifting film by documentary maker Florence Ayisi. It vividly shows how a shared commitment to growing and tending plants brought people together during lockdown in some of the most nature-deprived areas of Bristol. We’re thrilled to be sharing this film.
Hear from Dr Zakiya McKenzie. She is leading our exciting new leadership programme for local organisations and individuals wanting to creatively engage with their communities around climate action and broaden their knowledge of climate change issues.
Amrish Pandaya (The Bristol Rainforest), who features in the film, will run an interactive session on how to build communities around working with nature.
We will also be joined by members of the Black Seeds Network and partners who will talk about their Nature Rising project.
Nature Rising centres community expertise by creating a platform for Global Majority environmentalists in Bristol to share their knowledge. In this first of it's kind collaboration, funded by WECA, BSN is delighted to partner with Friends of the Earth as well as the wonderful Flourishing in St Pauls, Bristol Rainforest, May Project Gardens, Tara Miran and Divina Botanica.
Tickets are free and include snacks and refreshments.
