Can you tell a Jack-O-Lantern from Dead-Man's Fingers?
Or a Witch Elm from Hedge Woundwort?
The flora and fauna which live around us have been evolving alongside our ancestors since the beginning of time. This walk will be an opportunity to reconnect with the nature around us, exploring their names, uses and stories which continue to live on today.
It will be a silly, joyful, nerdy space welcoming anyone from all backgrounds and abilities. Come as you are!
ACCESSIBILITY:
- This walk consists of a primary concrete path, with the option to independently explore off the beaten track. It is accessible for wheelchair users.
- The walk is led by neurodiverse facilitators and welcomes neurodiverse participants!

ABOUT THE FACILITATORS
MAX :)
I'm Max, a wildlife communicator with a particular love for plants. I studied BSc Plant Science at the University of Bristol and am now beginning my journey as a freelance facilitator so that I can spend my time doing what I love so much, learning and sharing about nature!
A lot of my work has focussed on urban plants and encouraging new people to find beauty in nature. I'm the co-creator of CitySprout Game CIC, a card game about common urban plants which aims to get people looking at the plants on their doorstep. This year, I featured on Springwatch where I spoke about some common plants found in Bristol.
MAUD!
Maud is a mushroom nerd with an extensive knowledge about the fungi which we can find when out and about. She began roaming Bristol’s forests every Autumn whilst at University since 2020, then began regularly leading mushroom walks in the autumn, particularly with large groups of students every week for the University of Bristol Mycological Society.
Maud's enthusiasm for mushroom identification is catching, "so let’s all freak out and gawk at some shrooms together"! Everyone should go on a mushroom walk with Maud in their lifetime.
