A
gig
held at The Elmgrove Centre
on Friday 15th March. The event starts at 19:30.
Have you ever heard of a capercaillie*? What about a "Caper Ceilidh"?!
In anticipation of World Rewilding Day (March 20th), come and join us for an evening of frivolity, good cheer and dancing, with one of the best ceilidh bands around - Fitty Gomash!
All proceeds will be donated to Somerset Wildlands, a charity working to restore the Somerset Wetlands to their formerly wild and abundant glory.
If you've never been to a ceilidh before, don't worry! There will be a caller on hand to tell you all the steps!
Fancy dress as your favourite native wildlife is non-compulsory but strongly encouraged. However, bear in mind that riotous ceilidh dancing means that you will want to keep layers and extra potentially-eye-gouging-apendages to a minimum.
Trainers/ comfortable shoes are highly recommended!
* In case you're wondering, it's a huge black woodland grouse, which was once extinct in the UK, before being reintroduced during the 19th century. It resides in remote pockets of land in the Scottish Highlands. It has an otherworldly and bizarre call - we recommend you looking it up. Unfortunately, it's still on the UK conservation Red List, meaning that it's vulnerable to extinction here. Through restoring our natural habitats, hopefully it will once again roam freely across the land in the future. The same goes for our other native wildlife, who really aren't doing well at the moment in general.
*PLEASE DON'T ATTEND IF YOU HAVE CORONAVIRUS (OR ANY OTHER VIRAL) SYMPTOMS! Let's look after each other and the planet*
