Taking over sweaty New York venues and curbside congregations, bloodsports has become an undeniable force with their latest lineup—Sam Murphy (guitar/vocals), Jeremy Mock (guitar), Liv Eriksen (bass/vocals), and Scott Hale (drums)—finding solace in sonic strain where angular sedition collides with economical melodies that ease the weight of self-destruction. Their long-awaited debut album Anything Can Be A Hammer marks a bold evolution, embracing a more dynamic, mature approach as the band balances experimentation and curiosity with rhythmic blows and emotional depth; fragile yet abundant, the record leans into patience and interior tension, with Murphy’s lyricism blurring the line between what we know and what we think we know—it’s an album with blood in its veins and a finger on the pulse. The release quickly caught fire with praise from Stereogum, Vice, Alternative Press, Consequence, and more, leading to a support slot on They Are Gutting A Body of Water’s sold-out album release show and performances alongside Starcleaner Reunion and Brutus VII. In 2026, the Brooklyn four-piece is set to take their hard-hitting live show to SXSW, across the country, and around the world.
