LSB:
LSB’s first productions surfaced on Bingo Beats (run by the legendary DJ Zinc) & Deep Soul Music in 2007-08 and after a small hiatus spent honing his craft, he returned with fresh music in 2011 and his stock has been rising ever since.
Releases on Spearhead, Integral and Soul:r won him myriads of fans the world over with their blend of soulful musicality and dancefloor weight. In 2015, the collaborative track’ The View’ produced with DRS & Tyler Daley appeared on DRS’ sophomore album ‘Mid Mic Crisis’. An instant classic, it paved the way for his debut album’ Content’ on 2016 on Soul:r.
Since then he has continued to release his music on some of Drum & Bass’ premier labels, launching his own imprint ‘footnotes’ in 2018, which released his collaborative album ‘The Blue Hour’ with DRS in 2019.
DJ Patife:
DJ Patife’s musical career started aged 14 when he began throwing parties at his neighbourhood. Inspired by old school styles from the likes of Earth, Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder, Ella Fitzgerald, and the Brazilians Marisa Monte, Djavan, Jorge Ben, Fernanda Porto Patife officially launched his DJ career in São Paulo during the nineties.
A trip to England sparked his first forays into the studio and, having met Fernanda Porto while in Brazil, Patife produced the seminal remix of “Sambassim” and “Só tinha de ser com você” which went down as one of the first examples of international, soulful drum and bass on the pioneering V Recordings label. It really can’t be understated how important these tunes were for advancing the reach of drum and bass to future heads from all corners of the globe.
Very much a travelling man, Patife has visited almost every corner of the globe but has found time in his packed schedule to come and rock the dance with us at Damballah. Expect spirit lifting, heartwarming melodies and a samba energy that is unrivalled in the scene.
Fox:
He hosts, he sings, he rhymes. He’s just as comfortable on a broken beat banger by Zed Bias as he is a rolling juggernaut by Dub Phizix. He commands both the stage and studio with equal skill and clarity. He spent almost 10 years off the mic to help teach the next generation of MCs to flourish and help give Manchester its now indelible stain on the game. He’s a key force in some of Manchester’s most significant collectives and he can tell you you’re a dickhead in the most soulful way imaginable; if any MC is even close to having any type of masterplan, it’s Fox.
On a personal level Fox is a philosopher who balances a wry world view with a spirit as warm as his smoky harmonies. A strong believer in karma and paying things forward, the Manchester-born, Kingston-raised artist seems much more interested in connecting with and helping people than his own professional status.
A key member of both the UK bass & hip hop collective LEVELZ and the iconic Swing Ting crew, Fox has been tapped by some of the UK’s greatest to feature on their tracks over the years. These acts include Dub Phizix, Calibre, Marcus Intalex, Chimpo, Roska, and Call Super, just to name a few.
The multifaceted talent spent much of his lockdown in 2020 grinding it out in the studio, and the result? A full-force 11-track debut LP named Squad Dangs In The Key Of Vibes — out now via Lenzman‘s label, The North Quarter. Featuring instrumentals by some of the drum & bass scene’s most elite producers, the LP spans the D&B spectrum, jumping from hot to cold, raucous to mellow, and even expands into bass, dubstep, and hip hop territory. Piloted by Fox’s vibrant lyricism, the album tells the story of a veteran MC whose craft and musical mentality know no bounds.
