Welcome to the "cosmic wall of sound". Psychedelic vibes, stoner-rock grooves with a prog twist, instrumental music that invites to travel through the mind.
Monkey3 started in 2001 in Lausanne (Switzerland) as a jam-band community, influenced by a psychedelic and stoner-rock vibe that reminds Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Kyuss or 35007.
Over a 14-years career, Monkey3 released 6 albums. All along the years, the Swiss quartet toured everywhere in Europe, supporting the greatest acts, and playing the best festivals: Roadburn, Hellfest, Desertfests, Burg-Herzberg, Freak Valley...and the story goes on !
Their new album, "Astra Symmetry", feeds its inspiration from the mapping of the stars and their symbolic associations, interpreting the constellations stranded over the dark sky.
Taking its roots in the pristine abyss, "Astra Symmetry" is a journey towards sidereal soundscapes making their course over four progressive chapters revolved around the zodiac wheel, unifying astrological signs under their elemental nature. What begins in the deep waters, ascends into thin air and acquires earthly consciousness before burning in the sacred fire.
Astra Symmetry out on September 2nd 2016 via Napalm Records.
Since it's release, "Astra Symmetry" entered the German charts at #93, Swiss charts at #61 and was #1 most added in CMJ's loud rock charts.
Clawing their way out of the dank blackness of their riff research laboratory and hungry for the flesh of new twisted listeners, Gonga bring forth a new offering – a Concrescence.
In the five years since their last outpouring of un-anchored HeavyRock, Transmigration, Gonga managed to lose/fire/upset every bass player in the region. Brothers Thomas (dramatic battery) and George (riff philosophy) having survived war and mental abuse from the outside world found a new phenomenon walking the golden triangle right in front of their (third) eyes; a specialist in detail – you could say a time-stretch professional. And so, Latch self-sacrificed himself to the group before he even joined; the perfect combination of Geezer Butler and Cliff Burton muttering arcane wisdom.
Support comes from YO NO SE. Off the back of their 7" release on Greenway Records and an album coming to you on Stolen Body in the fall. Having just played a packed out Louisiana show for the Harbourside Fest, they'll be playing a special warm-up show with Thom (Gonga) before heading out on tour in September this is as good a time to catch them as ever.
