URZAH – ALBUM LAUNCH PARTY – ‘A Tranquil Void’ With special guests HUNDRED YEAR OLD MAN, MOUNTAINSCAPE & DEAD SPACE CHAMBER MUSIC Bristol’s own progressive sludge powerhouse Urzah are celebrating the release of new album ‘A Tranquil Void’ (APF Records) with a launch party at Exchange (main room) on Saturday 25th July. Urzah is proud to be part of Bristol’s thriving and diverse music scene, so this specially curated line-up is intended to showcase the UK’s best cutting-edge, genre-defying and progressive heavy music. Expect an immersive, atmospheric and crushingly heavy night featuring experimental gothic doom from Dead Space Chamber Music (Bristol), soaring cinematic post-metal from Mountainscape (Reading), crushing atmospheric post-metal from Hundred Year Old Man (Leeds), and brand-new material from Urzah’s long-awaited album ‘A Tranquil Void’. Listen to lead single ‘Infernal Star I’: https://lnkfi.re/teVrV8bO HUNDRED YEAR OLD MAN Atmospheric post-metal HUNDRED YEAR OLD MAN have been a staple of the UK’s underground heavy music scene for almost a decade, delivering a heavy, atmospheric blend of post-metal, sludge, and doom. “Their music is characterised by slow, crushing riffs, thunderous drumming, and haunting, emotionally charged vocals. HUNDRED YEAR OLD MAN creates a sense of desolation and intensity through their expansive soundscapes, drawing listeners into a world of heaviness and introspection. Their compositions often shift between moments of brooding calm and explosive sonic outbursts, evoking themes of loss, despair, and human vulnerability.” – ArcTanGent URZAH Progressive sludge/post-metal URZAH’s forward-looking sound combines the abrasive elements of punk and post-hardcore with atmospheric post-metal passages and soaring melodies. The band’s ‘Earthen Heaviness’ draws from visceral rage, loss and self-doubt, and from a profound awe and vulnerability in the face of the celestial and natural worlds, framing human struggle within vast cycles of death, decay and rebirth. Urzah release their anticipated new LP ‘A Tranquil Void’ on 5th June 2026 (APF Records). The record marks a defining moment for the band, following up their critically acclaimed debut ‘A Scorching Gaze’ (2024) with an even more assured, mature and ambitious full-length. Conceptually, ‘The Scorching Gaze’ and ‘A Tranquil Void’ function as a visual, musical and thematic diptych; their debut burned brightly with the rage and destruction of an erupting volcano, while URZAH’s sophomore LP captures the cathartic, contemplative still that follows. MOUNTAINSCAPE Instrumental post-metal Blending elements of post-rock, black metal, doom, sludge and ambient, MOUNTAINSCAPE meld dreamlike shoegaze with earth-shattering heaviness, unexpected twists and film score grandeur. A band on the rise, last year they notably played PORTALS festival and supported DVNE and NIGHT VERSES. DEAD SPACE CHAMBER MUSIC Gothic experimental doom Bristol’s DEAD SPACE CHAMBER MUSIC reinterpret centuries old historical forms and melodies and shape-shift them into new and varied contemporary works. Incorporating improv, 'found sounds' and vocals spanning Middle English, Latin and Welsh, they draw on dark ambient, post-industrial, avant-classical, sacred chant and dark-folk to deliver atmospheric and emotionally resonant shows, often performing in historic sacred spaces like crypts and churches. Exchange has a small ramp entrance from the street. Our bar and main event space are on the ground floor with level access throughout and we have an accessible toilet.
