Albion are a folk rock/metal band from the UK. Their sound is defined by combining melodies from the British folk tradition with contemporary metal instrumentation and production. One of the defining features of the band is the prominent inclusion of flute within both heavy and acoustic textures alike. The heavier tracks by the band still retain their folk identity as much as the purely acoustic offerings, resulting in a diverse and varied setlist that maintains a musical continuity despite the dynamic extremes. Albion owe much of their sound to the folk-rock bands of the late 60s and early 70s such as Jethro Tull, Steeleye Span and Pentangle, as well as purely folk performers such as Stan Rogers and Owain Phyfe, and also the harder-edged and often orchestral arrangements of metal acts such as Iron Maiden, Opeth, Nightwish and Therion.
