Klen + Magnolia + Petrichor at Exchange
£7

A gig held at Exchange on Thursday 30th May. The event starts at 20:00.

KLEN
Hailing from Penryn, Cornwall.
KLEN formed in the ashes of lockdown mid 2021. Originally a three piece sporting two guitars and a rudimentary stand-up drumkit, they now perform live as a five-piece with a double-drumming fluid arrangement.

Self-proclaimed ‘freakbeat beatniks’, their music draws influence from early garage punk and 1960’s UK freakbeat, alongside an array of contemporary influences that bleed into their distincive, angluar sound. Purveyors of the new ‘Kernow Beat’, KLEN are best descibed as snarling garage psych with a post punk edge.
KLEN are cementing themselves as one of the most enthralling new live acts on the circuit, having supported the likes of Snapped Ankles, Holiday Ghosts, Mandrake Hanshake, and Everything Everything - as well as accompanying Iguana Death Cult on their 2023 UK tour.

CLUNK Magazine wrote that KLEN are “already cementing themselves as the next bright lights... following in the footsteps of established Cornish artists such as The Golden Dregs, Holiday Ghosts, and more.”

MAGNOLIA
Describing themselves as “Experimental Post-Rock from God’s womb”, MAGNOLIA are an outstanding young six piece outfit based in Norwich and London.
Formed in 2022 whilst still at college, they are a supercharged fusion of both new and old.
Think Black Midi, Marujal and Opus Kink then add a pinch of early Hawkwind and a dab of King Crimson and you get the exquisite woven tapestry of avant-garde rock that is
MAGNOLIA. Their reputation as captivating live performers is already well set. On stage MAGNOLIA evoke a sonic battleground with jabbing, staccato sax leading the assault on the senses.
They are wild and gritty yet joyful and uplifting...bursting with method, spirit and feeling. They have opened for the likes of Pulled Apart By Horses, A Void, Arxx and
Lunch in both London and Norwich, which is where on catching a scintillating live
show Shake! Shake! Records immediately offered to put out their debut single
Television which will be available on limited edition 12” Vinyl and digital
platforms in May 2024 MAGNOLIA are a sonic garden of unearthly delights, a garden where each member contributes their own individual bud of colour.
Make no mistake, if the almost tangible buzz they’ve created on the Norwich
scene is anything to go by, you’ll be hearing a lot more about MAGNOLIA

PETRICHOR
Spine-tinglingly intense post grunge gloom from this incredible new band!

Please note the basement is not wheelchair accessible and is accessed by a narrow enclosed staircase. For more accessibility info, please email [email protected]
