REPO MAN / BARBICAN / PORTRAIT OF at Exchange
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"A triple-pronged transmission from the outer plains! Repo Man warp rock into a howling, sax-splattered meltdown teetering between Beefheart, The Fall and a skip fire. Barbican ride motorik grooves and barbed poetry into scatological oblivion, while Portrait Of cast surreal post-punk incantations. Immense FFO: Sex Swing, James Chance, duct tape, Tom Waits, Porridge Radio, This Heat. "

A gig held at Exchange on Wednesday 11th June. The event starts at 20:00.

REPO MAN
Repo Man emerged in Bristol in 2011, reshaping 'rock groop' sturm-und-clang into subnormal forms, son-of-Oldham vocal slurries, o0zing Free sax splatter and shards of punishing guitar bliss. If you ever freaked to The Fall, Sonic Youth, Swans or Ornette Coleman then Repo may be your ticket to oblivion.

BARBICAN
Barbican, a Bristol based post-punk quintet, channels the influence of CAN, Leonard Cohen and The Fall into a powerful sonic experience characterised by hypnotic riffs and Motorik drumbeats. Their angry, poetic vocals and dynamic soundscapes create a transportive and theatrical live show.

PORTRAIT OF
Emerging from the Bristol underground, Portrait Of bolster their post-punk unpredictability with memorable hooks and layered sonic textures. Scrappy, surreal - each song a half-glimpsed narrative, held together by duct tape and a dream. Come and see!
