Shovels & Rope at Exchange

A gig held at Exchange on Wednesday 17th June. The event starts at 20:00.

South Carolina’s Shovels & Rope are the musical duo of Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst. Married for a decade, the pair’s bond extends across love, parenting and creative collaborations. They released their self-titled debut album back in 2008 and over the years, have cemented themselves as one of Americana’s most compelling musical projects.

2019 saw the release of their most recent LP ‘By Blood’, written and recorded in their backyard recording studio, with influences ranging from Southern Goth to New Wave. “Trent and Hearst are no doubt individual talents, but together they’re a force to be reckoned with,” (NPR).
