Sophie Hunger has undergone something of a creative rebirth, just in time for her Molecules Tour as well as an accompanying album by the same name. After winning fans with her smoky vocals and Laura Marling-esque jazz/folk, she moved to Berlin and traded her classical instruments for drum machines and software. Despite the synths and new electronic minimalism, Hunger retains her ingénue-like delicacy and “an authenticity that we rarely get to see on this side of the channel” (The Independent). Echoes of funfair weirdness can still be found, calling to mind Beth Orton and Regina Spektor.
This is a standing Colston Hall Presents show at Exchange, 72 – 73 Old Market, Bristol, BS2 0EJ
