held at Fiddlers
on Friday 7th September. The event starts at 20:00.
Afrobeat originator Tony Allen and Detroit funk and soul legend Amp Fiddler team up for a riotous exploration of electronic funk and relentless groove. Having individually influenced almost every genre of dance music from the 70s onwards, these innovators have collaborated with the likes of Fela Kuti, Damon Albarn, Prince, George Clinton, Theo Parrish, J Dilla and Moodymann. In this original, live collaboration – based on 20 years of friendship – will bring together Allen’s “herky-jerky drum patterns” (Guardian) and Amp Fiddler’s “lush musical arrangements and sweet vocal melodies” (RA) in a night of authentic, Detroit-flavoured funk.
“Rarely has percussive innovation sounded this downright satisfying.” – Pitchfork, Tony Allen
“This is music that exists outside time and space, flowing straight from Amp Fiddler’s kaleidoscopic mind.” – Bandcamp Daily, Amp Fiddler
This is a standing Colston Hall Presents show at Fiddlers, Willway St, Bristol BS3 4BG
