Jazz In Future Inn Bristol at Future Inn Jazz Club

A event on Thursday 15th August. The event starts at 20:00.

Since escaping from London in 2005, Mike Willox has immersed himself in Bristol's burgeoning live music scene creating projects as diverse as the art-prog Smith and Willox (with guitarist Neil Smith) to deconstructive jazzers The Pollinators and the latin big band (with bassist and arranger Will Harris) The Magnificent Seven.

Over the years Mike has played with Fun Lovin' Criminals, Lee'Scratch' Perry, The Communards, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Don Weller, Iain Ballamy and the legendary Japanese cock-rock God Hotei.

As a sound designer Mike earned a nomination for BBC Radio 3 s New Composer for his found-sound work The Big Picture as well as Playstation credits that include The Curse: Eye of Isis and Rescue Heroes Molten Menace, though he has never achieved a high score on Sonic the Hedgehog.

Remix credits with long time partner Lightfoot include The Fatback Band, Mary J Blige, 3Mustapha3 and Lightnin Hopkins, all of which have had extensive airplay on Radio 1 and Kiss FM among others.

Working at The Place for the London Contemporary Dance Theatre's professional classes required the utmost concentration and improvisational skill and cemented Mike Willox' reputation as a musician capable of responding to the most diverse demands.
