If you're a fan of the classic Blue Note sound; that period from the mid 1950's to early 1960's then this gig is for you. Playing the classic compositions of Sonny Clark; Woody Shaw; Tina Brooks:Wayne Shorter; and Freddie Hubbard, The Sound Of Blue Note bring that vibrant sound back much as it would have been heard in it's time. The band focus on playing the music as it was originally played and recorded rather than arranged or modernised.
The band launched their first cd'Outside In', at the Pizza Express,
with Mark Nightingale as special guest, and have since played across the UK at places such as The Bull's Head, Barnes, Boisdale's on Canary Wharf, as well as many other venues and festivals. They recently opened swanage jazz festival with Alan Barnes as special guest, playing to a packed house.

'The Sound Of BlueNote takes its lead from the greatest jazz recordings on the iconic jazz label. However, this is no slavish copy! The band perform gems from a treasure trove of originals from the likes of Freddie Hubbard, Hank Mobley, Lee Morgan and others but retains an
identity, impressively, of its own. Slick ensemble passages alternate with inspired solos to bring this exceptional material very much to life! This may be a celebration of a golden musical age but in a modern and very relevant context. ' - Alan Barnes
