Partikel have forged a reputation as one of the most forward looking groups to emerge on the European jazz scene. The nucleus of Partikel is made up of three London based musicians led by saxophonist Duncan Eagles, all from different musical backgrounds who have come together to combine their various favourite musical elements to create a very particular sound of their own. Their music puts an interesting twist on the standard jazz format, whilst still honouring the tradition of deep harmony and creative improvisation.

The Partikel Quartet are Duncan Eagles, saxophones & effects, Max Luthert, bass & effects and Eric Ford on drums & percussion, together with special guest Benet McLean on violin.

'Eagles is one of the most exciting tenor saxophonists to appear on the UK scene since Denys Baptiste first emerged ' (Marlbank)

Partikel's busy live schedule have seen them heralded as a significant new band on the European scene over the past few years, with their fusion of jazz, rock and world music producing an array of highly distinctive musical landscapes. Partikel's latest album'String Theory' was released last year to great critical acclaim from both the UK and the European press; appearing on multiple'best jazz album' lists of 2015 including the Telegraph, Marlbank, Robert Shore (JazzWise) and was Tim Stenhouse's (UK Vibe) number one jazz release of 2015.

"Inventive contrapuntally - rich arrangements, this excellent experiment represents a perfect marriage of two seemingly disparate entities, resulting in an album of richly mellifluous sonority" All About Jazz

"One of the most successful attempts I've heard at fully integrating a string quartet into a jazz ensemble....like a miniature Loose Tubes with strings. Jazz Journal

"Turbulent avant-riffage, lush, cinematic sophistication... an ambitious project, convincingly realised" JazzWise

"A triumphant third album" MOJO

"The always stimulating Partikel meets this string section on equal terms. Eagles's tone on his various horns achieves an impressive blend of colours and dynamics. His compositions and arrangements, embracing sinuous, sinewy elegance, spiky funk and languid ballads, repay close attention. It's another intriguing step in the evolution of this talented outfit. " BBC Music Magazine

"Original and at times deeply poignant, this is a big step forward by a group intent on walking down a road less traveled" Kevin LeGendre, Echo Magazine

"String Theory is one of the most successful jazz / classical collaborations I've heard, a genuinely convincing hybrid.... the album is a brilliant realisation of all the ambitions and objectives Eagles had for the project.... an astonishing performance. " Ian Mann

"In balancing Partikel's familiar free jazzy energy with a compositional coherence that draws the textures of the string players and the trio into striking and often unexpectedly seductive accords.... String Theory is an intriguing insight into the depths of their resources" John Fordham - The Guardian

"Exciting and thrilling" UK Vibe
