The Flag Institute Spring 2026 Conference comes to Bristol on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 May, bringing together flag enthusiasts, historians, designers and curious newcomers for a weekend of talks, tours, and events. The main conference day takes place at Gather Round on Brunswick Square, Bristol with a full programme of sessions exploring flags, identity, and heritage. Topics include national and civic flags, how communities choose and use their symbols, public opinion and design, and practical guidance on how and where to fly flags correctly. The day ends with an early evening guided walking tour of Bristol’s historic streets, starting from Brunswick Square and finishing on the harbourside.
On Sunday the conference continues with optional visits to two of the city’s major attractions. Delegates can join guided tours at M Shed (Bristol Museums), which tell the story of the city and its people, and at Brunel’s SS Great Britain, which explores life on board one of the most important historic ships in the world. Both visits provide wider context on Bristol’s civic and maritime history for anyone interested in how places represent themselves.
Tickets are available for the full weekend, Saturday only, and Sunday only, with prices starting from £5. Full details and booking are available via Eventbrite... https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/flag-institute-spring-26-conference-sponsored-by-flagmakers-tickets-1977359097289?aff=oddtdtcreator
