Afon Sistema, and Bristol at large, are once again blessed with the privilege of hosting a key member of the Afro-Brazilian cultural and musical tradition of Maracatu de Baque Virado - Karen Aguiar.
Karen is the current regent, caretaker and master of Maracatu Nação Leão Coroado, the longest perpetually running Maracatu nation in the world. She is fiercely talented, and is 1 of only 2 female leaders in the sphere of Maracatu Nação.
We have the fortune of being a stop on her European tour this year, and it's her first time ever in Bristol! We're very excited to welcome her, and to bring you a 3 hour masterclass percussion and song workshop in the unique style of her Maracatu nation, Leão Coroado.
Some musical experience is preferred, but not absolutely essential.
