Samhain Nature Craft Workshop

Samhain Nature Craft Workshop at Greenbank Cemetery & Easton Community Garden

An event on Sunday 18th October. The event starts at 13:00.

Get into the Samhain spirit with a guided forage walk through Greenbank Cemetery where attendees will learn the folklore of the Rowan tree and their many magical uses.

After foraging we'll gather in Easton Community Garden's (ECG) newly rebuilt cob shelter for mulled apple juice and our festive nature craft: A Ghost Garland made from foraged autumn berries and upcycled book pages.

Location & Time:
We'll begin at Greenbank Cemetery (Greenbank Road, Easton, Bristol, BS5 6HL) and then head to Easton Community Garden for the crafting portion.

Please meet at the Greenbank Road entrance of the cemetery (right across the bike path) for a 1 pm sharp start

Clothes/Dress:
Fun/festive dress is encouraged (think witches hats, pumpkin jumpers, whimsigoth, autumnal vibes) but please prioritize your own comfort and be mindful of the weather as we'll primarily be outdoors. Weather proof or outdoor suitable footwear is encouraged

To Bring:
Please bring a bag or container to carry foraged items in (i.e. paper bags, tote bags, plastic bags, basket, etc.) as well as a pair of scissors or secateurs.

Accessibility:
The cemetery has paved paths but some are sloped and uneven in parts.
The foraging walk will primarily stick to these paths but there will be small deviations onto short grass paths.
ECG has limited accessibility for wheelchairs as the terrain is somewhat steep at the entrance.
Toilets at the cemetery are unfortunately open inconsistently but there is a compost loo at ECG.

Behavior and Expectations:
As we will be walking amongst gravesites, please be mindful of where you're stepping and be respectful of other visitors and of the deceased. Greenbank Cemetery is a lovely and peaceful place, let's keep it that way for those who have passed.
This event has been marked as LGBTQ+ as those involved in making this event are part of the community and will strive to make this a safe space. Any homophobic, transphobic, racist, ableist, sexist, and other harmful behavior will not be tolerated and you will be asked to leave the event.
