A event on Sunday 24th March. The event starts at 17:00.

For this unique gathering we will be tackling hard to chew concepts of death, rebirth and transformation as a creative movement experience.
We have chosen to harness the power of the ‘Worm Moon', seen as a time for rebirth and renewal, for this workshop. We will meet the evening before, on the 24th of March, also on the precipice of the full moon eclipse in Libra, highlighting a potent astrological point of release.

Greenbank cemetery is a well-loved place for Bristol locals to come and walk or relax amongst departed souls. We chose to hold our workshop here as an homage to the bodies resting there and for a chance to be with those that once walked and danced amongst us who have left our earthly realms. Though death and dying might be a taboo or difficult subject for some, we aim to explore it’s purpose and meaning individually and collectively as a multi-faceted, powerful and very necessary part of life.

For this outdoor encounter, we will be working through Anna Halprin’s ‘Rising and Falling’ group movement piece. This is an open score designed to explore themes of momentary death and letting go through repeated action. A cyclical exercise of yielding and rebounding in which the mover can engage on a kinesthetic, metaphorical, or emotional level according to personal resonance. The process incorporates non-judgemental witness feedback and a chance to reflect openly about whatever associations may arise.

Together we will explore other sides of the veil through a danse macabre and contemplate the nature of afterlife, endings and spirit-forms. Touching on themes of personal and collective grief processing, letting go, transformation, soul-retrieval and the afterlife (or void, however you see it), we will provide exercises and somatic tools for working with the transformation process around these rites of passage.

Please wear loose, layered clothes appropriate for all weather. A flask of something warm or snacks to stay energised is always a good idea!

***Sensitivity Notice***

We will be working within the creative container to approach these sensitive themes with objective curiosity and playful exploration. Whilst there will be space for sharing and reflection, we recognise that, for some, this content may feel too raw and confrontational. Please be aware if you are dealing with a recent loss or actively grieving a loved one, this workshop may not be the best space to hold any intense feelings that come up. Please feel free to email us and have a chat beforehand if you have any questions in advance.
