Femme de Musique #11 at Greenbank
See event details

A gig on Wednesday 31st May. The event starts at 20:00pm.

Femme de Musique is back for another season following a wee break... if you havent been to one of our nights before, we are a monthly music night that promotes quality acts with women in them, aiming to support gender equality in the music scene.

May welcomes an all-time Bristol favourite TROYKA, with support from the ethereal JAUSME, and hosted by live loops from ISOLDE.

TROYKA

TROYKA formed as a trio of harmonica, clarinet and guitar in 2008 and have been bringing Balkan Heart Music to Bristol
ever since – a stormy mixture of traditional and original songs and rhythms from the former Yugoslavia and the Balkans with
brushes of Klezmer and the Middle East.

Your heart will be warmed and your toes kept tapping by the soaring clarinet, rich violin and rhythm-hopping guitar, all held
together by infectious double bass and percussion. With Sophie Wilsdon on clarinet and vocals, Barney Rhythm on guitar and vocals, Justin Fellows on percussion, Naomi Hill on violin and
vocals and Liam O'Connell on double bass.

ISOLDE

Isolde (Freeth-Hale) is a singer-songwriter/producer based in Bristol, who you may have seen harmonising as one third of the Eko Trio at a previous FDM. She was raised in a family of potters & painters, which explains the tactile sound she creates in her collages of field recordings, found sounds, looped instruments & textured harmonies. Isolde’s work has been compared to the likes of Hanne Huckleberg, Tune-yards, Bjork, Tunng, Cosmo Sheldrake and Coco Rosie, and has been flavoured as a dreamfolk-toytronica. 2015 saw the release of Isolde’s debut EP, Seed Bud Bloom, and 2017 eagerly awaits her 2nd EP, Holy Cow, a scrap book of songs & field recordings taken on a recent trip to India/Nepal.
