Bristol North-West Climate and Ecological Debate

— Greenway Centre, Doncaster Rd BS10 5PY
Come and ask your prospective North-West MPs about their parties' policies to cope with the climate and ecological emergency.
time:19:00
price: entry is free

Information:

These impartial, non-selective hustings for the December 2019 General Election are organised by Extinction Rebellion Bristol in conjunction with Friends of the Earth and Bristol Youth Strike 4 Climate.  They are an opportunity for voters in Bristol to question their prospective parliamentary candidates on where they and their party stand in relation to the climate and ecological emergency that we are all subject to. All candidates have been invited. Those that choose not to participate will be represented by an empty chair on stage.

Each hustings will be firmly and fairly chaired by an impartial, non-partisan chair person.

Candidates can expect to field questions relating to Extinction Rebellion’s three demands: 1) That government and media organisations tell the truth about the climate and ecological emergency, 2) That everything is done in order to achieve Net Carbon Neutrality by 2025 and 3) That Government must create and be led by a Citizens’ Assembly on climate and ecological justice.
See: https://rebellion.earth/the-truth/demands/

People will be invited to ask short, focused questions, not to make statements. In terms of inclusivity, the Chair will  encourage quieter, less heard voices from the audience to contribute, inviting those who normally speak up at meetings to hold back. We actively want to hear from those who tend not to speak at public meetings.
