This is the second double-bill evening concert at Ham Farm Festival 2024. Doors 5pm Choro Roda 5.30pm-6.30pm Interval - food and drink for sale 6.30-7.30 CarmenCo "Pocket Opera" 7.30-9.30pm Clube do Choro Bristol will open the evening with a roda - a great fun, informal and inclusive concert of Brazilian choro music performed in a circle, where extra players are always welcome to join in. This choro roda has become a fixture at Ham Farm Festival and is always hugely popular. There will be an interval, with food and drinks for sale, and then CarmenCo trio will perform "A Pocket Opera" - a sell-out show which has been touring the South West throughout 2023 and 2024 and has bookings to end of 2025. CarmenCo's "A Pocket Opera" is a concert of Spanish and Spanish inspired music presented as a play, with costumes, props and a storyline which roughly follows the story of Bizet's opera Carmen, but told from her point of view.. Dare you consult the cards with her? What does she think of the men in her story? Did she foresee her gruesome ending? And does she like the opera Bizet wrote about her? "An unusual, highly entertaining evening... The three first-rate musicians rose to the challenge of acting and dancing as well as musical performance... Superb range of musical colour and artistry throughout the programme" - Ayrshire Post "The musicianship was wonderful, I love Emily's beautiful voice and the storytelling was spellbinding... So entertaining as well as dramatic and touching - I laughed out loud when I was listening. A lot!" - concert organiser, Frome Concert Club"
