Being Human - Getting Stoned with Australopithecus at Hamilton House

A event on Sunday 8th January. The event starts at 14:00.

Where best to start understanding out journey through meaning than with how we came to be.

From a dust cloud, after 4.5 billion years of it spinning and combining, and recombining in new formations in ever more complex ways, until a species of primate had to face a huge shift in their environment when the trees died off and they were left on the plains of Africa. The solutions to this problem, and the ensuing evolution several million years later lead to Homo Sapiens and out own cultural evolution.

In many ways we are still not so different from the first hunter-gatherers, even less so from the farmers who came along hundreds of thousands of years later. When looking at the two it gives us great insight into a huge array of our problems.

This lecture is the basis from which we will be looking at the rest of our journey through having meaning. It is ground zero of the human psyche. Knowing this is important to understand who we are, and how we find meaning in the world.
