event
on Thursday 30th November. The event starts at 20:00pm.
The upstairs at the Lazy Dog is Bristol's hottest little comedy secret. Darn near every Thursday we're booking in the best of local and UK alternative comedy. Come see what the fuss is about.
If you've never had the chance to see Pat Cahill, there is still time to atone. Do you like your weeknight cultural outings adventurous and modestly priced? Do you demand your comedy be absurdist and unpretentious? then push up to the bar and demand over the clatter: 'I'll have one ticket for Pat Cahill, please!' Not a meagre 'I'd like a ticket'...or 'might I have a ticket...' but a firm statement of your intent to not leave until your spot in the intimate, upstairs venue is secure.
What will Pat bring? Will it be new material? His Edinburgh show? A best-of? A little from columns A-through-the-bit-where-Excel-starts-using-double-letters?
Special guest spot from the ever-amazing Laura Lexx, who will be working out a bit of new as she swings thorugh the southwest. Laura is an Amused Moose Comedy Award finalist who performed her critically-acclaimed solo show, Tyrannosaurus Lexx, at the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe.
Always top-shelf local support acts, and your cranky Yankee host and compere (who still doesn't know what a compere actually is, but is faking it admirably), Tony Chiotti. Following the showcase, there's a free, cheeky little open mic, for those not ready for bed, or who want to try squinting into the lights and feeling the adrenal panic of live comedy for themselves.
The show starts promptly at 8, upstairs. Doors at 7:30. Tickets are £5 at the door or online, £4 in adv. at the bar.
From Pat's 2017 Fringe show:
Pat Cahill is The Fisherman. Having hidden in plain sight as an absurdist comedian for a while now, it’s time for him to flash you a sneaky bink at his ultimate form. Come and enjoy a bit of quiet reflection by the riverbank, interrupted by an idiot who insists on singing, chatting and spooking the fish. ‘A near-perfect absurdist hour’ (EdFestMag.com). Best Show Nominee Leicester Comedy Festival 2016. ‘True star quality’ (Evening Standard). Time Out 10 Best Comedy Shows 2015. ‘2.8lb Perch’ (Anglers Mail).
