A event held at The Ill Repute on Thursday 12th March. The event starts at 20:00.

“Everyone has the right to make an ass out of themselves. You just can't let the world judge you too much.” On Thursday 12th March 2026, Be Kind Rewind Bristol returns to The Ill Repute with a special screening of Harold and Maude and this one carries a little extra weight. Following the recent passing of Bud Cort, we’ll be celebrating the strange, singular magic he brought to the screen as Harold: the hearse-driving, death-obsessed young outsider who finds an unexpected connection with Ruth Gordon’s irrepressible Maude. Directed by Hal Ashby and soundtracked by Cat Stevens, Harold and Maude walks the tightrope between gallows humour and open-hearted romance. It’s tender without being sentimental, dark without being cynical; a film about choosing life, even when you’re obsessed with death. Cort’s performance is delicate, awkward, funny and deeply human. This feels like the right time to revisit it on a big screen, and together. • The Ill Repute, Old Market – downstairs cinema • Doors 7pm / Film 8pm sharp – no late entry • Free entry – first come, first served • Drinks and Cocktails upstairs – raise a glass if you’re so inclined A celebration of a cult classic and a quietly brilliant performance we won’t forget.
