A event on Friday 17th July. The event starts at 18:00.
Welcome to zine club! An experience where, with the expert guidance of local illustrator Edie Woolf, you will produce a zine of your very own.
What’s a zine, you might ask? Good question! A zine is a form of self publication popularised by the DIY punk scene in the 70’s and beyond. It can be anything from a 6 page booklet of poetry to a large format publication of photography and pretty much anything else you can imagine.
This edition of zine club is all about manifesting your dreams through zines! And host Edie is no stranger to this, through 2 different self-published zines she has managed to achieve 2 lifelong dreams. Her riso-printed zine ‘My Life in Rhythm Games’ led the way to being the lead artist and storyteller of the cult Playdate rhythm game ‘Otto’s Galactic Groove’, and her zine ‘My Life as a Wannabe Musician’ led her to starting a garage band!
In a relaxed and quiet setting, Edie will guide you through all the steps you need to make a zine. Using your own dreams as inspiration, you will fold, cut and collage your way to being a step closer to something you’ve always wanted. Past participants dreams have been anything from wanting to pet a salamander to wanting to eat fried chicken.
This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners: people who claim to struggle drawing even a stick man, to artsy hobbyists and even zine making veterans. All the materials you need will be provided including collage materials, coloured paper, pens and pencils, stickers, sequins and all sorts.
Vegan snacks and soft drinks will also be provided! Feel free to BYOB as alcohol is permitted in the studio, and there’s an off licence just down the road too.
