on Thursday 7th July. The event starts at 19:00.
Summer is truly on its way and, bringing the sunshine in July, comes Tonic 042 a-barrelling!
July's edition of Tonic stars headliner Pascal Vine with support sets by T.S. Idiot, Sam J Grudgings and Rhys Ashton Tucker.
Come for the Scratch Showcase of brand new material, Half-Time Scratch, multiple support acts and headline set by the stunningly-penned Team Tonic Alumnus, Pascal Vine.
There is NO OPEN MIC for this show.
HEADLINER
Pascal Vine is a UK performance poet from the Somerset Levels who enjoys describing the world around him in the touchiest-feeliest ways possible.
He graduated from Bath Spa in Creative Writing and Religion in 2018. He has made himself useful behind the scenes at many slams and open mics since starting out five years ago, as well as headlined poetry nights across the South West. He’s worked with punks, interpretive dancers, noise artists, radio hosts and anyone else who will let them. He has been published by Bad Betty, Three Drops, and Verve in various anthologies. He is disabled, nonbinary and tired.
His debut pamphlet “Good Listeners” from Burning Eye is available from their website of his big cartel. https://pascalvinepoet.bigcartel.com.
SUPPORT ACTS
T.S. Idiot is a short-sighted, slam-losing writer and performer based in Bristol. They like to talk about every day moments, mental health, being bent and, occasionally, amphibian-shaped confectionary.
T.S. Idiot has featured work with BBC Arts, Apples & Snakes and Bristol Museum & Art Gallery.
Sam J Grudgings is a poet perpetually on the edge of collapse. Shortlisted for the Outspoken Poetry Prize in the performance category in 2020, he is renowned for his frenetic delivery & whirlwind stage presence. His work combines visceral metaphors with frank gutter honesty & dark gallows humour. He yells stories about loss, 50 ft monsters, fighting god & haunted people because it's cheaper than therapy & less physically taxing than porno. If he invites you to join a cult, it’s because he sees more than just a sacrifice in you.
Sam is published by Verve Poetry Press, where his words leap as much off the page as he does on the stage.
Rhys Ashton Tucker is a performer who works with multiple artforms including spoken word, videography and music. He is as likely to break out into a comedic monologue in-character as he is to burst into heartfelt song.
Rhys has wowed Tonic audiences over the years with his unique Scratch Showcase performances and has contributed to the South West Arts Scene as an eclectic performer and event producer.
