"Like contemporaries Romare, Daphni and collaborator Andrew Ashong, his productions are not born with the floor in mind, yet they retain a undeniable danceability that will leave Soundway Records and Rush Hour fans irresistably shuffling. It's a promising launch night for new promoters it's peachy in the intimate settings of The Jam Jar Bristol; Flo will be joined by Bambooman (live) and Rough Draft resident Ellie Stokes. ? Auntie Flo
HE GOT…... RHYTHM….. MAKE YOU.… DANCE.
Auntie Flo is a Worldwide FM radio host, Highlife label boss, well respected DJ and “One of the most truly original production talents of recent times” - not our words but those of Resident Advisor. With releases on labels such as Brownswood, Multi Culti, Sofrito & Mule Musiq, as well as his own Highlife and Huntleys & Palmers, he continues to push boundaries.
'Radio Highlife' is an engaging live rendition of not only his newly released album on Gilles Peterson’s Brownwood Recordings but an expansive summation of his career thus far. Seven years of wild travelling, serendipitous encounters, deeply personal moments are packed into the live show with field recordings and themes from everywhere from Cuba to Cape Town, Bali to Kampala and voices from Russia, Istanbul, Senegal and the UK expertly fused together in an ambitious and original global statement.
Another hugely unique production talent with numerous releases on Matthew Herbert’s Accidental Jnr label as well as Sonic Router and his own Health imprint, Bambooman has been making his unique off-kilter, weirdo house for a number of years. We’re very happy he’s agreed to come and play a live set for us.
Bristol DJ Ellie Stokes has been making waves as one of the best new selectors in town. The Rough Draft resident has already played the likes Glastonbury, Love Saves the Day, The Warehouse Project & Love International and has recently done a banger of a mix for Lobster Theremin and just joined Noods Radio as a new resident. Big things on the horizon.
