Gambian sensation Maryama Cham joins London-based Congolese Cuban outfit Grupo Lokito in a vibrant fusion of Gambian, Congolese and Cuban rhythms. 

Maryama’s powerful voice, singing in her native Wolof and Mandinka tongue, meets the soaring tenor of Iddo Donnatella in Lingala, creating a captivating musical journey from the smiling coast of West Africa through the rhythms of Congo and into the irresistible spirit of Cuba. 

Expect joy, rhythm, energy and masterful musicianship in a unique celebration of global roots music.

GRUPO LOKITO

Since their formation in 2006, Grupo Lokito have toured the UK extensively delighting audiences with their unique style of music and high energy performance. Congolese frontmen Iddo Donnatella and Kas Kasongo’s glorious vocals float over the soaring guitars of Congolese guitar legend Kiamfu ‘Burkina Faso’ Kasongo and the rhythmic grooves of Kenyan rising star Shama Shah. These blend with the lilting keyboards of Sara McGuinness over the solid foundation of bassist Jimmy Martinez, Lilli Ahvenainen on Congas and Raphael Delfino on drums.

Maryama Cham is a dynamic Gambian singer, songwriter, pianist, composer, and activist whose golden voice resonates across SeneGambia and beyond. Her music masterfully blends classic acoustic performance with traditional West African folklore, communicating powerful messages through the richness of her culture.
As Country Representative for the African Artist Peace Initiative and a UNODC Blue Hearts campaign advocate, Maryama is as committed to social change as she is to artistic excellence.
