A clubnight held at The Jam Jar on Saturday 13th June. The event starts at 23:00.
La Bomba meets Analog Africa!
Samy Ben Redjeb (ANALOG AFRICA) plus DJ Magrão (São Paulo, Brazil)
Since 2007, Samy Ben Redjeb’s seminal Analog Africa label has been unearthing the best in both explosive foot-shufflers and hypnotic sauntering treasures from Africa. It’s achieved more than most in celebrating the rich and diverse heritage of a much misunderstood and overlooked continent. Samy has spared nothing in his pursuit of choosing authentic and eye-opening choice records. His lifestyle and string of various jobs—from a Life Aquatic sojourn as a diving instructor in Senegal to a stint as a Lufthansa flight attendant crisscrossing the Lagos-Addis Ababa-Accra arc and beyond—have all been centered on a passion for crate digging.
If you thought African music started and finished with Fela Kuti and Afrobeat, you’re in for a mind-blowing experience of discovery. And if you’re already familiar with this cornucopia of delights stretching from Angola to Niger, you're gonna REALLY love this!
DJ Magrão
DJ Magrão’s sets are a carefully curated blend of classic, rare, and exclusive tracks spanning reggae, dancehall, Brazilian, Latin, and African music — all played 100% on vinyl.
Currently a resident DJ at the highly regarded Fresh! party, Magrão has shared the stage with legendary Jamaican artists such as U-Roy, Ranking Joe, Welton Irie, Eek A Mouse, Yami Bolo, Lone Ranger, and King Jammy’s, as well as prominent Brazilian artists including Russo Passapusso, BNegão, and Black Alien, among others.
In 2003, Magrão was also one of the founders of Brazil’s first reggae Sound System, playing a key role in the development of the country’s sound system culture.
