Mohamed Errebbaa & Tagna Groove

Mohamed Errebbaa & Tagna Groove at The Jam Jar

A gig held at The Jam Jar on Saturday 19th December. The event starts at 19:30.

> Step into a powerful sonic ritual as Moroccan Maalem (master musician) Mohamed Errebbaa brings his dynamic 6-piece ensemble, Tagna Groove, to The Jam Jar.

Rooted in the sacred, centuries-old traditions of North African Gnawa music—an ancestral art of healing, community, and spiritual trance—this project bridges continents and cultures. At the heart of the performance is the deep, resonant pulse of the guembri (the three-stringed traditional bass lute), masterfully commanded by Errebbaa, one of the tradition's youngest recognised masters.

Expect an intoxicating collision of worlds as hypnotic polyrhythms and soaring vocals meet the raw, modern energy of UK jazz, heavy funk, soul, and afrobeat. Born from an Arts Council-funded exploration to push traditional Gnawa into contemporary international spaces, Tagna Groove delivers an immersive, high-energy live experience designed to lift the spirit and move the dance floor.

Whether you come for the deep trance traditions of Sufi mysticism or the irresistible pull of heavy bass grooves, this is an unmissable night of boundary-pushing global music in the heart of Bristol.
