Jokeh Sillah from the Gambia - Dance
Jokeh is a dancer from Latri Kunda in the Gambia, specialising in West African ballet. As a teenager, she toured the USA with the Gambian National Dance Troupe, and now, whilst based in Manchester, she manages a leading dance company in the Gambia, whilst performing, working in theatre & providing dance workshops in the UK.
Iya Sako from Guinea - Djembe
Iya is a renowned djembefola from the Siguiri & Wassalon regions of Guinea, a patient & challenging teacher who has performed with some of the most celebrated djembe players of our time, including Mamady Keita & Famoudou Konate.
10.30am - 12.00pm West African Dance Workshop with Jokeh Sillah
1pm - 4pm West African Djembe Drumming Workshop with Iya Sako
