THE BRACKISH
Psychedelic vanguards and misfit maestros of Bristol's BLOOM music collective, THE BRACKISH are an audacious all-star assembly of guitarists Luke Cawthra (Phantom Limb – The Naim Label) and Neil Smith (This Is The Kit – Rough Trade), drummer Matt Jones (Zun Zun Egui – Bella Union) and Port Erin bassist, Jacob Tyghe. Their debut album, 2014's Big Guys (Lava Thief), righteously filled a kaleidoscopic void in instrumental music and along with 2016's follow up album, Liquid Of Choice (Bad Elephant Music), the band gained an infamous reputation for their awe-inspiring live shows across the European and UK art rock scene, including the La Ferme Électrique and ArcTanGent festivals. With a third album 'Firm but Fair' on Stolen Body Records and a fourth, 'Atlas Day' on Brighton's HalfMeltedBrain records, THE BRACKISH are storming the stage again with a new brew of gracefully strange arrangements and improvised auditory theatre.
SHAKU
Figureheads of Frog Rock. Disciples of Distortion. Vanguards of Visceral, Varied, High-Velocity musical incidents.
Shaku’s genre-fluid identity blasts listeners into a new era of guitar rock injected with towering rave synths and giddy nostalgia. Boasting a crib-sheet of influences from Frank Zappa, Primus and Caravan to Kool Moe Dee, Chaka Khan and Parliament/Funkadelic, they describe themselves as a 20 car motorway pile-up if amphibians drove adrenaline-fueled race cars made of jazz.
After forming in 2017 and years of relentless gigging, supporting the likes of The Headhunters, Henge and Too Many Zooz, Shaku finally delivered their much anticipated debut album "Maku" in February 2020 with a packed headline show at Leeds' Brudenell Social Club followed by a UK tour. Fresh off their May 2022 tour promoting “Ulysse ft. Matilde Mirotti”, Expect to hear Shaku loud and back with a vengeance, piling heaps of new material into crowds far and wide.
"Utterly Bonkers" - Emily Pilbeam, BBC Introducing West Yorkshire
"Full on joyous psych-rock with a jazzy grin and a prog vibration which runs through their veins like musical haemoglobin." - Prole Jazz
“Just because you have big ideas and exceptional musicianship, your music doesn’t need to lose its sense of humour – Shaku proves that point.” - James Thornhill, Proxy Music
