This one's gonna go like this:
7:30PM: Doors open.
7:30-8:30PM: Catch up with your mates and/or make new ones before lights go dim.
8:30-9:10PM: Queer spoken word folklore by @evierey_art + @_shak.ara. SO excited to bring these two beaut artists to you.
9:10-9:20PM: Join the meditation to tune into your body and feel into what’s there, or hang out in the chill room until you’re ready to D.A.N.C.E.
9:20-11:20PM: LEXX on the deXX for a big sweaty dance.

ABOUT EVIE REY (they/she) & SHAKARA (she/they):
A fusion of cultures, fusion of experience, fusion of Queerness. Renowned Queer truthsayers, Shakara brings revolutionary soulwerk poetry, meeting Evie Rey with their Celtic Pagan folklore. As friends, the pair met through creative consciousness, which then rocketed into countless Queer storytelling events, inspired by each other’s greatness and prowess.
ABOUT LEXX (she/they):
LEXX whips the finest Reggaeton, Afrobeat, Dancehall, House and Drum & Bass into sets that sweat and reset. She will throw you into the deep end and you will love it. LEXX's dance floor is a space for those of you who know there's more to life. A sexy space where gender gets bent and all beings are held in love. A space where you can dance freely to meet your struggle and release it all. Come get it.
ABOUT THE SPACE:
Soft Butch is a safe and held space. You are in good hands: LEXX is trained in somatics-informed DJ-ing and embodied leadership. After the warm up, there will be an opening meditation to bring us into the dance floor. I’ll let you know when the meditation is about to start and there’ll be a moment for you to decide whether you want to stay, move to the back of the room to dip a toe in, or hang out in the chill room until the dance begins.
Unwanted touch, homophobic, biphobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, ableist or ageist behaviour is not allowed. If you feel uncomfortable or overwhelmed at any point, please come talk to one of our Soft Butch crew members (we all wear a fluorescent armband). We will believe you and we will help.
The bathrooms in the venue are all gender neutral.
If you'd like a chair, please contact the venue directly on [email protected]. We'll have it labelled with your name and ready by the stage for you to collect when you arrive.
