Sunday Mourners + The Rovers

Sunday Mourners + The Rovers at The Jam Jar

A gig held at The Jam Jar on Thursday 22nd October. The event starts at 20:00.

Pungent, characterful stories delivered by vocalist Quinn lead the show set to a tune-laden punchy pallet from a classic rock set up oozing effortless angular groove.
Echoes of Television or Wire only gives you a clue to Sunday Mourners hooky sound as the album matches the art-rock with its strong playful melodies.

Recorded at Jazzcats Studio in Long Beach California, owned and operated by their dear friend Jonny Bell who engineered, mixed & mastered the record on a 2 inch tape machine which contained “Lot of fender single coils and dry DI sounds, a few pianos, standup basses and moogs, a vintage slingerland kit. Lotta old dry wood, which we hope comes across.”

"A-based quartet’s savvy first - though Sunday Mourners are hardly alone in looking to The Velvet
Underground, Television and The Strokes for the groovily angular basics, the difference lies in their
freaky-beat energy, motorik drive and whiff of early-’70s rock."
- Uncut Magazine

"Sunday Mourners’ sound is a beautiful homage to the heyday of sunny Southern California rock
and roll only with a slightly harder-edged east coast approach. Combining the embryonic stage of
Parquet Courts with the Velvet Underground and Bowie, Uniquely melting together influences to
create a soundtrack to so many “wouldn’t it have been cool?” rock n’ roll musings."
