FOCUS CONGO at The Jam Jar
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Bristol stands in solidarity with the Congolese people and their suffering after decades of war, displacement and mineral exploitation. Come get educated with panel discussions and information stalls + witness live performances from bass-heavy neo-soulster Soulbee, gritty UK rap from Komposa and much much more, all raising money for on-the-ground relief efforts."

A gig held at The Jam Jar on Thursday 29th May. The event starts at 18:30.

ABOUT THE EVENT
Focus Congo will be a one-night fundraiser bringing together music, activism, and community to support those impacted by the humanitarian crises in Congo. This is a night of collective action, deep reflection, and cultural celebration.

Proceeds will go directly to Focus Congo, an on-the-ground organisation providing emergency aid to displaced families, supporting medical needs, food security, and shelter. The event is organised in collaboration with Solid Bristol, Afro-Revolution, and with support from OSCAR Bristol (The Organisation for Sickle Cell Anaemia Research) and SARI (Stand Against Racial Inequality).

WHAT TO EXPECT
The evening opens with a panel discussion and speeches from frontline activists, campaigners, and community leaders within the Congo solidarity movement. You’ll hear from individuals raising awareness about the exploitation, displacement, and ongoing conflict in Congo — as well as those building lasting movements of resistance and care.

After the talks, the night transforms into a full cultural celebration featuring:
- Live performances from Afrobeat, soul, R&B, rap, and jazz fusion artists
- Engagement spaces, stalls, and resources from Bristol’s grassroots orgs
- A headlining Congolese DJ to close the night with an electric dance set
