"Idle Hands boss Chris Farrell, one of Bristol’s most quietly assured selectors, has his house and garage hat on for this lightly leftfield Grapevine edition. He’s been around this city for yonks and knows exactly how to work a dancefloor - if you’ve caught him at Houghton, En Masse or Love International, you already know what’s up."

As a record shop owner and highly respected DJ, Chris Farrell is an essential part of Bristol’s music scene. Appearing at top-tier events and festivals such as Houghton, Love International, and the Love Inn’s mystical birthday and New Year’s Day parties, Chris knows exactly what it takes to get a crowd jumping.
With his record shop Idle Hands and regular appearances on Rinse FM, Farrell has mastered the craft of delivering the right music to the right people. Whether it be house, garage, techno, breaks, or even dub, Chris Farrell's bag is deep, and we’re delighted to have him along.
We’ve spent the last 18 months hosting small parties across Bristol, starting with house parties and WhatsApp groups spread through friends and friends of friends, focusing on taking our time to build a strong core community of regular attendees who all come for the same reasons — good music and good company. We’ve deliberately kept ourselves small and contained whilst we solidify our sound and figure out what works and what doesn’t.
We’re now ready to expand into a bigger space for a wider crowd, so on February 5th we take Chris Farrell to The Jam Jar, along with our residents and coordinators Nat Alkin, James Salter, and Uncle Fred on supporting duties. This is our natural next step — the same people, better music, and just more room to dance.
