A clubnight held at The Jam Jar on Wednesday 9th November. The event starts at 19:00.

Hi. We're so glad you made it here ♥

Soft Butch is a new night celebrating all butchness, made for the FLINT (Femme, Lesbian, Intersex, Non-Binary and Trans) community. This is a safe and held space for you to come and twerk/shake/shuffle/sway freely in all your messy glory. We have a couple of rules to help us all commit to the dance: no drinks on the dance floor + no phones anywhere. Please have your bevs at the bar and in the seated area, and put your phone away once you've shown your ticket at the door.

7:00PM - Doors open
8:00PM - The amazing Ania Varez warms up the dancefloor with their Reggaeton Ceilidh (iIf you have no idea how these two dance words can co-exist yet, you're in for a TREAT)
8:45PM - DJ LEXX on the deXX
11:00PM - Events ends, bars stays open til midnight

We can't wait to dance with you.

ABOUT LEXX:

LEXX whips the finest Latinx, Afrobeat, Dancehall, House and Drum & Bass into sets that sweat and reset. She will throw you into the deep end and you will love it. LEXX's dance floor is a space for those of you who know there's more to life. A sexy space where gender gets bent and all beings are held in love. A space where you can dance freely to meet your struggle and release it all. Come get it.

ABOUT ANIA VAREZ:

Ania Varez is a Venezuelan artist based in Bristol. Their work changes all the time and moves across different mediums, with a strong emphasis on movement and poetry. They often address experiences of migration, grief and queerness. Ania believes that making art with people is one of the nicest ways of being together, changing the world and sharing hope.

ABOUT THE SPACE:

Soft Butch is a safe and held space. You are in good hands: LEXX is trained in somatics-informed DJ-ing and embodied leadership. After the warm up, there will be an opening meditation to bring us all into the dance floor.

Unwanted touch, homophobic, biphobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, ableist or ageist behaviour is not allowed. If you feel uncomfortable or overwhelmed at any point, please come talk to one of our Soft Butch crew members (we all wear a fluorescent armband). We will believe you and we will help.

The bathrooms in the venue are all gender neutral.

Accessibility information: https://www.thejamjarbristol.com/accessibility - unfortunately the space is not wheelchair accessible. We're working on this for future events.

Covid policy: https://www.thejamjarbristol.com/covid-policy.

Strobe lights will be used during the event.

There will be a photographer taking pictures which will be used online after the event. If you don't want pictures of you to be shared, please let us know now or at the door when you're showing your ticket.
