Roots Restoration
Presented by The Poor Man’s Friend at KIT FORM
Friday 4th – Sunday 7th July
Following the success of last year’s popular showcase Making of a Label, The Poor Man’s Friend team return to Jamaica Street Studios with a brand new collaborative exhibition: Roots Restoration
This thoughtfully curated event celebrates the cultural roots and creative energy that continue to shape the label and the city's identity. Through a striking blend of photography, print, and graphic design, the exhibition pays tribute to the rich heritage of Jamaican culture, art, fashion and music. Taking place during the St Pauls carnival weekend– the powerful forces that have long inspired and informed the label’s vision are present throughout the surrounding area.
At the heart of the exhibition is the collaboration between three distinct artists:
• Rider Shafique, photographer and multidisciplinary artist, brings an intimate lens to Jamaican life and identity
• Jodi Hunt, graphic designer, interprets the spirit of sound system culture and visual storytelling
• Lily O’Connell, print specialist, transforms bold imagery into vibrant, tactile expressions
Together, they present a compelling body of work that honours tradition while celebrating Jamaican/Reggae culture.
Join us over the bank holiday weekend to join us for an event that celebrates culture with rhythm, resistance, and the joy of community
