BRIZZLE BOYZ - Bristol's premier queer punk drag king cabaret night - and HOUSE OF MANNINGTON - Bristol's hottest king led drag collective are teaming up to bring you the ultimate drag king crash course! Come join us in celebrating all things cabaret, queer, and CAMP!*
This series of bespoke workshops have been carefully crafted to give you all you need to go from car radio crooner to cabaret cassanova in just six fun packed weeks! We will be focusing on makeup and looks, physicality, lipsync, and most importantly - how to craft a performance fit for a king! Following your five weeks of once-a-week workshops and practice you will be invited to perform at a graduation showcase at the legendary Exchange!
In order to give everyone the full amount of attention we feel is necessary for our fledgling kings to flourish, we are limiting spaces for this event, so please book your space as soon as you can!

Sat 14th May - 11:00 - 14:00 - The Station - Stage presence, persona development, and act creation
Sat 21st May - 11:00 - 14:00 - The Station - Lipsync, performance, act development
Sat 28th May - 11:00 - 14:00 - The Station - Costuming and prop making
Sat 4th June - 11:00 - 14:00 - The Station - Act practice and final development
Sat 11th June - 20:00 - 03:00 - Exchange - Performer showcase + afterparty
== How much and how do I pay? ==
The full course consists of five workshops over five weeks, with the performer showcase taking place on the sixth week. The costs are as follows:
£20 per week (total £100) - Standard workshop tickets
£13 per week (total £65) - Concession* workshop tickets
£8 per week (total £40) - People of colour/BAME workshop tickets**
Tickets purchased via this link work as your deposit, which will act as your final week's payment and will secure your place on the whole course. Please note that if you are unable to attend any of the workshops you will still be required to pay the full course fee. If you'd prefer to pay all in one go, send us a message to [email protected] and we'll send you over the details to do so. Otherwise, workshop payment must be made each week.
*We do not define the meaning of concession, and will not ask anyone to justify this choice!
**We particularly want to support new performers of colour, so we have added a further discount for this ticket tier
== What is this course offering? ==
We are offering practical advice and training on how to kickstart your first jumps on to the stage in an intimate and fun setting. Each of the five weekly workshops will cover different aspects of the art of drag kinging. You will also have access to a private support chat group where you will be encouraged to ask for feedback on your progress and generally chat all things drag!
== I'm not sure I can commit to the full course, is there another option? ==
We appreciate that not everyone can commit to performing straight away, and this time round we are offering the option to do the first makeup focused session as a standalone workshop class! You can find out more information about that here: www.hdfst.uk/E74385. If you commit to doing the full six week course, the introductory makeup session will be included at the same rate as the remaining workshops.
==What do I need to bring? ==
We'll send a more detailed info pack out upon sign up, but you will need to supply your own basic make up kit and any costuming you'd like to wear.
== Who are you? ==
Oliver Assets and Fluxx Wyldly founders are producers of Bristol's extraordinarily successful drag king cabaret night Brizzle Boyz. Manly Mannington is founder and father of House of Mannington, an explosive and eclectic Bristol drag collective!
== Is this for me? ==
This course has been designed for complete beginners to newbie performers interested in performing on stage. We encourage people of all genders, ethnicities, adult ages, sexualities, and physical abilities to join. If you have specific access concerns, please get in touch at [email protected] and we will do our best to accommodate you.
== I really want to do this but I can't afford it right now ==
If you're serious about wanting to break in to the world of drag but lack the financial support to do so, send an email to [email protected] and we'll see what we can do.
== Accessibility and Locations ==

Jump Studio - The entrance to Jump Studio is accessible to wheelchair users, and has a ground floor toilet that has an accessible entrance but has not been made specifically to cater for wheelchair users. There is parking available outside the studio. This workshop will be seated.

The Station - The Station is an accessible building with lift access to the first, second and third floors. There are accessible toilets located on every floor. The front of the venue has level paved access and there is on street parking directly outside of the main entrance (unrestricted with a blue badge.) Exchange - Exchange is a wheelchair accessible venue with a wheelchair accessible toilet.
