Hamlet: The Musical - in Bristol at Kelvin Players
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Bristol Shakespeare Festival drags Hamlet through karaoke hell! Shakespeare’s blackest tragedy already gave you dead dads, horny uncles and poisoned goblets; now the whole rotten kingdom’s buckling in real time as it’s rerouted through bargain props, millennial pop hooks and deeply questionable choreography in this Edinburgh Fringe sensation."

“Hamlet’s mom has got it going on…”

Claudius has killed Hamlet’s dad, married his mum, and seized his throne - what’s an angsty royal teen to do? Hold onto your ruffs as we take you on a laugh-a-minute whirlwind tour of the Danish tragedy… with a little help from Frank Sinatra and Britney Spears, the Killers and Kanye West, ABBA, Queen, and Wicked!

Retelling the tale entirely through extremely silly, re-lyriced versions of all your favourite pop and West End songs, Bristol Shakespeare Festival is proud to welcome back our debut show, revamped for 2026 with all-new songs and suspiciously tatty re-used props!

At last, after centuries of waiting, Shakespeare’s greatest play is finally being told as he always intended it: with skull puppets, rap numbers, and line dancing!

Something is rockin’ in the state of Denmark!
