Gris Sanderson and the Radial Band at Kingsdown Vaults

A gig held at Kingsdown Vaults on Friday 22nd December. The event starts at 21:00pm.

The Radial Band probably has the weirdest collection of instruments you’ve seen in a while! Bulgarian tambura, cittern, RAV drum, Slovakian fujara, dumbek, Swedish nyckelharpa, Norwegian Hardanger and the unusual DanMoi (mouth harps made from spent US bullets left behind in Viet-Nam) are just some of the instruments played with “joyful spontaneity” by musical adventurers Louis Bingham, Ricardo de Noronha & Griselda Sanderson as they
produce a unique soundworld of new music based on ancient traditions. United in spirit and craftsmanship they are inspired by the rich and varied traditions encountered on their travels. Weaving together European, Scandinavian, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean styles and occasionally reaching into North and West Africa they celebrate diverse cultures with their vibrant performances.
