See event details

A gig held at KIT FORM on Friday 5th July. The event starts at 21:00.

Join us at Kit Form Gallery for the APERIODIC afterparty: a mesmerising performance for synthesizers by Why Patterns?. This variable-geometry band is an innovative force in the French experimental electronic music scene. In "Aperiodic Study for Two Synthesizers," Why Patterns? will weave a complex, polyrhythmic continuum by overlapping three evolving rhythmic phase systems. With slight modifications in delayed tempi, microtonalism to create frequency beats, and the use of spectral melodic-harmonic motifs, this performance is an immersive exploration into the realms of modular synthesizer practices.

The Why Patterns? performance of'Aperiodic Study for Two Synthesizers' will be 9-9.45pm, followed by music till midnight.

Having graced stages at festivals like Festival Météo, GMEM, Jazz à la Villette, and Jazz d'Or, Why Patterns? is interested in deconstructing rhythmical geometries. Their debut EP is inspired by composers Suzanne Ciani and Laurie Spiegel, Don't miss this unique auditory experience that challenges and redefines the possibilities of rhythm and harmony.

APERIODIC is a festival of art, science, music and performance taking place this summer in Bristol. The theme is the mathematics and science of ‘aperiodic order’: the absence of regular or repetitive patterns.
Or, more simply, ‘things that almost repeat, but not quite’.
