A
event
held at KIT FORM
on Wednesday 22nd October. The event starts at 19:30.
'Show Me The Gays' is an independent LGBT+ journalism platform run by freelance LGBT+ journalist Andy Leake. It is run by the community and for the community, created as a space for informal, educational conversations about the LGBT+ community.
This month we are welcoming a discussion panel of queer event curators to discuss Bristol's queer events scene. Andy has written about Bristol's queer community for the past two years as Bristol24/7's LGBT+ Editor.
Over the past year, queer events have been struggling, facing cancellations and low ticket sales. This is due to a variety of options, from the cost-of-living crisis to the changing queer community in Bristol.
Our community spaces are so important, creating safer spaces for different subdemographics of the queer community to gather and form friendships and find acceptance in themselves and others.
This discussion panel will highlight the importance of these events, focusing on the work done by groups including D.irt Collective and The House of Boussé. Both respectively creating spaces for Bristol's queer people of colour and our city's trans and gender-non conforming communities. Both of these groups will be represented on the discussion panel.
The power of community unites us, come and hear about how best you can support our grassroots spaces, as well as reflecting on the work and spaces created by some of Bristol's queer community groups.
100% of proceeds from tickets will be donated to Dandelion DIY - a Bristol-based harm reduction group for trans + people who are self-medicating with HRT
